The Scania R-series has once again won ‘Fleet Truck of the Year’ at the prestigious ‘Motor Transport Awards 2015’. Incredibly, it’s the third time the model has won the award, previous victories coming in 2005 and 2010.
The win was announced at the official ceremony at The Grosvenor House Hotel in London, attended by 1,600 transport sector luminaries. Now in their 30th year, the Motor Transport Awards are widely regarded as the transport industry Oscars, recognising outstanding achievements in innovation, efficiency, quality and service.
Martin Hay, Scania (Great Britain) Limited Sales Director, said “It’s a very prestigious award and a great honour. It recognises a lot of hard work across the entire network, from sales to aftersales and everything in between. This award is for the whole of Scania. A big thank you to Motor Transport, and a big thank you to all our loyal customers. This recognition means a lot and we really appreciate it.”
Motor Transport Editor Steve Hobson said: “The judging panel, made up of 60 highly experienced industry professionals, singled out the R-series, “a truck that commands huge respect and loyalty,” for its fuel efficiency, cost of ownership, and excellent dealer support network. “The R-series has been around seemingly forever, which is why the judges praised its bullet-proof reliability, as well as recognising Scania’s fantastic after-sales service.”
The judges also commented: “The 12.7-litre Euro 6 engine with a nominal power rating of 450hp is bang on the money for many tractor unit applications.
It has a reputation for reliability, top quality interiors, and the best residual values in the business – plus immense driver appeal.”
