Stoneridge Electronics returned to the CV Show in Birmingham this year to give transport operators and drivers an opportunity to see how its latest digital tachograph, the SE5000 Exakt Duo2, can do all the hard work for them.
For drivers, keeping on top of the Drivers Hours’ Law and Working Time Directive is no mean feat. And not always something that comes at the top of the agenda when they have the road to focus on.
Stoneridge recognises this and strives to address the problem with its Duo Technology, a handy tool, providing drivers with real time information on their current situation. This includes countdowns on drive and rest times, as well as useful warnings when nearing the driving limits.
The tool helps them optimise their time on the road and adapt to any changes in their journey, as well as helping them to stay legal, avoiding costly fines.
Mark Armstrong, Owner of ABH of Mansfield, is one of many transport operators who has seen a real change in their business with the introduction of the Duo Technology: “Drivers can see with a quick glance at the tacho screen how much driving time they have left before having to stop for a break and how much daily rest they need to take. The tachograph is doing the hard work for them but it also helps drivers to be much more aware and we have seen a reduction in infringements to zero so it’s helping us to keep in line with the law.”
Stoneridge also exhibited its range of brake testing and tachograph calibration solutions, including the launch of the VOSA approved tachograph test and calibration capability for the market leading BM Brake Tester. The new add-on will provide an intuitive and automatically guided process through a complete testing and calibration programme as well as wireless communication with the Optimo tachograph programming tool, allowing calibrations to take place quickly and easily.
