MAN Truck & Bus Bellshill proved they were top of the class when they took a Euro 6 truck on a school visit. Clydeview School, in Motherwell, an additional support needs school and nursery, asked the company if they could provide a truck for the day as part of a transport project for their pupils.
The truck manufacturer was only too happy to oblige and took along one of their top of the range tractor units a TGX 26.440 XXL Euro 6 model. Gordon Heeley, service manager at MAN Truck & Bus Bellshill, said it was the first time they had taken a truck into a school.
“The school asked us to take a truck in as part of their transport project to help broaden pupils’ horizons.
“We really enjoyed being involved. It was great to see all the faces of the children, especially when they were allowed to sit in the cab. It was great to see their smiles when they were sitting high up on the driver’s seat, they got even more excited when they found the horn button.”
Alun Struthers, deputy head at Clydeview, said: “We were delighted when MAN said they would be involved. “They were fantastic with the children and all 32 of our pupils got to experience it. We have to teach everything in a real-life context, as we cater for children with a wide range of additional support needs.
“Therefore, we are always looking for community involvement to give the pupils that experience and we cannot thank MAN enough for helping us.”
