Based near the Humber, and close to the motorway network, the company is able to offer a full or part load delivery service within 24 hours to all destinations on the United Kingdom mainland.
They have also just announced the winners of a design competition, which was launched last year to mark the company’s investment in greener technology and to celebrate the Clugston Group’s 75th anniversary.
The completion was aimed at 7 to 11 year olds in the North Lincolnshire area and the children were tasked with creating an image to reflect the theme of making Lincolnshire a ‘greener place to live’.
There were over 130 entries and the winning design has been applied to a newly acquired
state-of-the-art Lawrence David curtainsided trailer – part of an ambitious £1.5million capital expansion of the Clugston Distribution’s fleet during 2013. This significant investment through the year will deliver a 5.9% fuel saving and reduce carbon emissions by 3,000kg a year
Commenting on the competition Clugston Distribution General Manager, David Heath said: “The competition was run as part of our aim to become a more sustainable company, and to involve the local community in what we do. The idea to get primary school children to create a design for our new 45 foot trailer, which itself is extremely carbon efficient, was aimed at raising awareness of the global carbon challenge and directly engaging with the area’s youth.
We are delighted to have this opportunity to showcase the winners’ creative talents.”
He went on to say: “Lawrence David was chosen as the trailer supplier as their product, within the transport industry, is renowned for its quality, engineering excellence and longevity. They also had the flexibility
to turn the design artwork into finished curtains and fit those curtains to the side of the trailer ensuring the ‘Let’s Go Green’ design will be seen trunking on the UK roads”.
The winners of the competition plus their guests were invited to view the newly liveried trailer at the Scunthorpe v. Hartlepool match at Glanford Park – Scunthorpe United’s stadium – on Saturday, 23 February. There they were able to enjoy the match and a meal as guests of Clugston Distribution.
The trailer was parked in the car park prior to the match for all to see.
From March, the new Lawrence David trailer with its ‘Let’s Go Green’ message will be carrying timber products from Lincolnshire whilst brightening up the roads with its distinctive new livery.
