IMS Limited, one of the leading distributors of premium products to the commercial vehicle market in the UK and Ireland, has appointed Andrew Young as its new Service Engineer. Andrew brings many years experience in mechanical maintenance and will be delivering technical support, maintenance training and problem solving to all IMS’s customers.
“After leaving school I studied motor mechanics, with my first job being at a Ferrari garage. After a few years I moved from high performance cars to something a little larger, and spent several years working as an HGV mechanic. I always had an interest in problem solving and diagnostics and developed a reputation for being able to solve the more challenging of problems,” said Andrew. “I then moved to BMI as a Ground Service Technician at East Midlands Airport – a role that involved looking after a variety of third party equipment for different airlines and handlers.
“I moved to IMS in February 2013 and hit the ground running! I’m here to offer technical support to all of our customers, solving problems when they arise, and providing technical training on maintenance. I’m really enjoying the role, and hope to be able to help our customers keep things running smoothly.
“Out of work I’m a very keen cyclist, riding both on the road and mountain biking whenever I can fit it in. Although I’ve done a lot of racing in the past (as well as motor-crossing in my younger days), I’m now trying to take a step back from the competitive side of things, although it’s taking a bit of getting used to!”
