West Midlands based BJS Haulage has confirmed an order for 80 new SDC Freespan Curtainsiders in response to rising demand for its services, the first 40 of which have already gone into service.
The lightweight Freespan Curtainsiders offer an enhanced payload for BJS’s multipurpose transport of pallets, furniture, food and beverages, retail, industrial, manufacturing and construction materials. A detailed specification for the equipment was determined by BJS with a host of durable features that will efficiently meet the needs of their customers; BPW Eco-Plus axles, Haldex generation 3 braking, LED lighting, flush steel doors, an easy-access coupling box as well as strap and toolbox storage.
Designed with a clear side aperture for ease of loading, the Freespan trailers are built for strength and high load retention, and the EN 12642-XL standard build reinforces this. All 80 trailers incorporate SDC’s unique easy-roll curtain rail technology, proven over the years to provide the highest level of efficiency, safety, and smooth operation that is favoured by operators. Another key quality feature is the extremely robust bolt-on-body design which relieves stress on critical parts of the trailer and allows for inexpensive repairs in the event of damage.
SDC’s UK Sales Manager, Matt Kerrison said: ‘I am pleased to support BJS Haulage with our EN-XL Freespan Curtainsiders and delighted they have been recognised in the prestigious Motor Transport Awards for best vehicle livery. I want to thank David McWilliams and Amarat Gill for entrusting SDC to deliver our expert trailer solutions for their haulage needs. At SDC we work closely with our customers to ensure every new trailer is engineered with maximum value for the customer, finished to our exacting quality standards and backed up with our industry-leading aftersales functions, to provide a reliable and profitable return on investment. I look forward to continuing this relationship with BJS Haulage over the coming months and years ahead.’
SDC Trailers has three UK-based manufacturing facilities, supplying the industry’s leading logistics operators, supermarket brands, construction, and manufacturing companies. The manufacturer offers a wide range of semi-trailer types, as well trailer life cycle solutions; spare parts, breakdown assistance, accident damage repair, refurbishment, and fleet graphics.
David McWilliams, Sales Director at BJS Haulage & Construct IT, says: ‘Our new SDC trailers are complimented with a matching number of new Renault trucks – fully equipped with all the latest tech – which, with our fully trained driver teams, will allow us to take a distinct advantage in an industry that’s crying out for a more consistent, professional and courteous approach right now.
Amarat Gill, Operations Director at BJS Haulage & Construct IT, says: ‘To support our continued growth and meet customer demands, we are pleased to have received our first batch of 80 brand new SDC Curtainsider trailers, for both our BJS Haulage and Construct IT divisions. We were impressed with SDC’s build quality, which is synonymous within the industry and look forward to growing the partnership, for our future trailer requirements.’
