Buffaload Logistics, the high-volume distribution specialists, have taken delivery of a further consignment of temperature-controlled double-deck trailers which brings the fleet to 105 units and counting.
Based in Huntingdon, Cambridgeshire Buffaload has expanded rapidly over the last 18 months and with additional hubs in Scotland, Wigan and Avonmouth is now the largest independent operator of its kind in the UK.
Commenting on the fleet expansion, Sales Director Graham Usher says: “This is not so much of a milestone but more of an ongoing strategy to meet the increasing demand for more load and less cost in today’s competitive and environmentally conscious transport world.”
To this end, the new double-deckers, manufactured by Gray and Adams, can carry 44 pallets and approximately 60% more load than a conventional refrigerated trailer. Moreover, the trailers are specified with a variety of telematics equipment to enable real time monitoring of load temperatures, vehicle tracking and end-to-end journey audits.
“Our aim is to provide the highest standard of logistics management,” adds Buffaload’s Managing Director Julie Feltwell, “which not only enables retailers and food producers to maximise their transport efficiency, but also helps minimise environmental impact by keeping food miles low.”
Complementing the logistics fleet is Buffaload’s national trailer and vehicle rental operation which comprises temperature controlled and ambient double-deckers, urban trailers and dry freight trailers. Available for short and long term rental, the equipment can be delivered to any UK location and if necessary can include tractor, trailer and driver – a full service which, says the company, is virtually unique in the UK transport rental industry.
