Cartwright will be showcasing its new advanced Lifting Deck Maxi Wedge trailer on Stand 3A40 at this year’s Commercial Vehicle Show (April 28-30).
The result of over six months development by Cartwright’s experienced engineering department, the company is confident that the new trailer is an industry game changer, offering measurable benefits pound for pound in terms of increased capacity, reduced weight, flexibility and a competitive price.
Designed as a ‘one product suits all’ trailer, amongst the many major advantages is the modular chassis design, offering a modular bolted chassis which allows more flexibility in the choice of specification to suit customer requirements while not requiring longer investment in design time that a bespoke double deck normally needs.
Cartwright engineers have particularly focused their efforts on achieving a lighter weight solution. The company’s light weight ExcelLite™ composite panels have been used in the construction together with other lightweight materials in order to achieve a target weight of 12600kg – a saving of 1200kg compared to standard double deck trailers. The advantages of this lighter weight body include reduced fuel consumption, increased payload and improvement to customers’ carbon footprints.
Another additional benefit of the flexibility of the design of the new trailer is load securing for caged goods, loose loads or palletised goods. It is so flexible that it can accommodate different types of load.
The overall height of the Moving Double Deck Maxi Wedge Box Van is 4955 mm offering a major increase in capacity for the customer. The coupling height is 1250 mms.
The new design allows customers to operate a standard fifth wheel height tractor unit. This means they do not need to change their fleet to achieve the load capacity associated with a lower European standard fifth wheel height.
Furthermore, because the new wedge trailer has a direct drive hydraulic ram, it has minimal moving parts, is easier to maintain with lower maintenance costs, and is far more efficient than traditional rope and pulley systems that some trailer manufacturers still use.
The Moving Deck Double Deck Maxi Wedge Box Van from Cartwright is the perfect solution for a diverse range of applications and customers including parcel carriers, who will be attracted by the increased cubic capacity of Cartwright’s latest ground breaking trailer and also retail customers, including supermarkets for their cage operations.
Mark Cartwright, Group Managing Director commented: “Our Moving Double Deck Maxi Wedge Box Van is a game changer for the industry with an exciting new design taking our Moving Deck Maxi Wedge Box Van trailer to the next level.
“We have significantly increased capacity and reduced weight in the design which offers major benefits to our customers in terms of fuel savings, increased payload and improving their carbon footprint.
“We have built this new trailer very much with the customer in mind. Flexibility, less moving parts so lower maintenance costs, reduced lead times and a highly competitive price with a choice of two models in standard or premium build.
“This is a trailer that is a real alternative for customers seeking a better solution with a range of measurable and value-added benefits in return for their investment in a trailer that meets the operational demands of the 2020s.
“Suffice to say, the capacity advantages that customers will be able to enjoy with our new double deck wedge trailer can be likened to the capacity of a European trailer,” he added.
