Chestnutt Animal Feeds of Stranocum, the Northern Irish-based business that offers a complete solution for the manufacturing and distribution of animal feed has recently expanded its fleet with two new trucks. The Volvo FM-420 8×4 tridem vehicles will allow for resourceful and efficient loading and distribution of the animal feed which is manufactured at the mill.
The pair of FM tridems are the perfect solution for the business. With the three-axle bogie this significantly improves close quarter manoeuvrability – even on the narrowest roads. The trucks’ 420hp Euro-6 engines are also very fuel efficient and the cabs are both comfortable and safe for the drivers.
The new FM tridems come with colour-coded bumpers, Kelsa lightbars, air horns and reversing cameras and have been finished off to perfection in Volvo’s bamboo green, liveried with Chestnutt’s well-known branding.
The company, which has a rich history dating back over 90 years, started off as a flax mill in the late 1800’s before being bought by Alexander Chestnutt on January 6th 1926. The business was then purchased by Alexander’s nephew Alexander in 1953 and since then the business has continued growing and is currently owned by Alexander’s son, James, who came into the business in the early 1990s.
The company made its first Volvo purchase in 1990 with a Volvo FL7. Expanding year-on-year, the company now runs a Volvo strong fleet consisting of 9 Volvo trucks.
Managing Director, James Chestnutt said, “We have been doing business with Dennison Commercials for nearly 30 years and find that their back-up and service is second-to-none. We have very high standards for our drivers and believe that the Volvo product not only provides the highest level of comfort, but also safety and reliability. “
He added, “We know by expanding our fleet through Dennison’s will allow us to exceed customer satisfaction by delivering more capability and efficiency for our business.”
