Halifax based family firm Collett Transport has officially taken ownership of its latest fleet addition, a 8×4 Mercedes 4155 tractor unit complete with 205 Tonne/Meter Effer 2055 Crane, currently the largest of its kind in Europe.
Offering an unrivalled capacity, this latest innovative acquisition offers a powerful weight to ratio performance and utilises 6 boom extensions to provide a maximum reach and lift capacity of 30,000kg at 4.51m and 8,550kg at 15.25m. This hydraulic folding crane is based on a tractor unit with a maximum axle load of 16,500kg and a Gross Vehicle Weight of 150 Tonnes.
Working closely with local supplier Atlas Cranes UK Ltd, Collett commissioned the new Effer due to its unrivalled technological prowess, strength and performance. The largest machine of its kind, and the biggest project Atlas have undertaken, the Effer 2055 has become a showpiece of the industry reinforcing Atlas Effer and Collett’s positions as market leaders within their fields.
Crane vehicles (also known as ‘Crane mounted Trucks’ or ‘Lorry Loaders’) are already a prominent feature across Collett’s established fleet however, with the addition of this new 205 Tonne/Meter crane, heavyweights Collett have proved their commitment to excellence in providing heavy lift and transportation solutions.

Collected from the production factory in Bologna, Italy on 16th July, the machine travelled the length of Europe, eventually to arrive at Collett’s Head Office in Halifax on Friday 18th July. Already turning heads within the industry, the Effer 2055 stands to become one of the shining jewels in Collett’s crown offering an unrivalled lifting capacity and providing Collett with the opportunity to showcase their expertise.
