Ctrack has enhanced its Driver ID solution that determines exactly which driver is operating a vehicle to include smartcard functionality. As a result, it can now take advantage of existing workforce identification solutions by supporting employee or building entry card systems to provide advanced insight into the status and whereabouts of drivers.
This latest development increases the number of methods available to identify drivers via the Ctrack solution, which already includes a dallas key, integrated navigation device, active RFID and now Near Field Communication (NFC). Using an in-vehicle contactless card reader, companies can now gain all the benefits of the Driver ID system without the added administration and cost of managing multiple identification tags and processes.
With Driver ID, it is possible to separate driver and vehicle data to better understand the movements and actions of individuals in real-time or historically, irrelevant of how many vehicle they have operated within the reporting period. Not only can businesses gain added visibility, capturing vital fleet data, but also prevent unauthorised or illegal driving by ensuring a driver has the relevant credentials, training and permission to operate a specific vehicle.
John Wisdom, Managing Director of Ctrack commented: “Our Driver ID tool can now integrate with existing identification systems to eliminate the hassle of managing multiple solutions. This streamlined approach is designed simplify internal workforce processes while delivering added benefits. By taking advantage of Driver ID fleet operators can increase visibility and control to enhance driver behaviour, achieve robust accountability and reduce operational overheads.”
