Preparations are well under way for FTA Transport Manager 2016 sponsored by Iveco, which takes place from September to December. The popular conferences, supported by Goodyear Tyres and Microlise, give transport managers and those in charge of road transport fleets the opportunity to hear from key industry speakers and experts such as their local Traffic Commissioner on the latest issues affecting their operation, preparing them for the year ahead.
Last year’s delegates included Bill Cox of Powerday Recycling, who said: “It’s important to attend Transport Manager to keep in touch with upcoming legislation, to see what the Traffic Commissioner thinks of what we’re doing, generally just to keep in touch with everything that’s going on in our industry. The FTA is the premier association for haulage – I have belonged to it for many years in different companies, it is the best.”
Another delegate was Shane Hardman of Delahaye Moving Ltd, who commented: “The information that we get from FTA is fantastic. We are members of our own industry associations and we get nothing like the level of support that we get from FTA.”
A Traffic Commissioner will be in attendance at each Transport Manager venue, discussing priorities for the coming year, regulatory developments, regional issues and the future of Operator Licensing. Other sessions at include:
DVSA – enforcement priorities and OCRS changes
Leading transport safety at work
Industry accreditation and earned recognition
The DVLA’s new driver licensing and medical systems
Brexit – EU legislation, what would you change?
