Framptons Transport Services, one of the West Country’s leading contract warehouse, distribution and pallet delivery specialists, is targeting improvements in fuel efficiency and fleet performance by upgrading the advanced vehicle tracking solution from Ctrack that they currently use. The logistics operator has awarded a five-year contract extension across 66 vehicles that will result in the existing telematics solution to include CAN bus integration and driver identification.
Web-based vehicle tracking system Ctrack Online will be used from the company’s head office in Shepton Mallet, Somerset, to monitor tractor units and rigid commercial vehicles that operate across the UK. This will also include the tracking of collections and deliveries in the Somerset and Dorset area that are undertaken as a member depot within both the Palletline and Hazchem pallet networks.
The Ctrack solution will be integrated with each vehicle’s CAN bus system to access additional driver behaviour and engine management data. This will enable Framptons to report on a wide range of data including RPM, fuel consumption andodometer reading to effectively identify areas of improvement within its vehicle operation. Meanwhile, each vehicle will be fitted with Ctrack’s Driver ID tool, making it possible to separate driver and vehicle data to better understand the driving style, location and actions of individual employees, whatever vehicle they are operating.
Richard Fry, Deputy Managing Director of Framptons Transport Services commented: “We have been using vehicle tracking for a number of years, but needed to update our system to better meet our requirements. After trialling three options we feel that Ctrack Online provides a solution that combines ease of use with added functionality and an advanced reporting package. As a result, we will gain greater insight into the performance of our drivers and vehicles to target efficiency savings and other operational improvements.”
John Wisdom, Managing Director of Ctrack said: “Logistics businesses are facing a range of cost, legislative and operational challenges that are impacting their ability to maintain competitiveness and profitability. We are working closely with road transport operators to help them take advantage of the latest technology solutions and industry best practise by developing tailored tracking solutions. This will enable them to operate efficiently and meet exact operational needs.”
