Leading bus, coach and haulage insurance broker, Gauntlet Group, is telling drivers there’s no need to get the jitters on the forthcoming Friday the 13th.
Gauntlet Group, which insures fleets, individual commercial vehicles and haulage trucks nationwide, has analysed its claims data to discover that, since 2008, less than half a per cent of claims occurred on a Friday the 13th.
The most claims received, on what is supposedly the unluckiest day to take to the road, related to incidents occurring on February 13, 2009 and September 13, 2013.
Gauntlet’s director and head of its dedicated bus, coach and haulage team, Ian McCarron, says: “Accidents sometimes occur when we psychologically tell ourselves that there’s a greater chance of them happening, so we hope that commercial drivers will take to the road onFriday March 13, feeling more confident now they have the facts.
“There are bigger things to worry about than fate, such as accidents due to vehicle maintenance, tiredness at the wheel and theft. By focusing on the positives and being alert to the real dangers, drivers should stay safer and their passengers, or loads, more secure.”
