Kent-based haulier Kelly International has bought six new Schmitz Cargobull curtainsiders, fitted with the manufacturer’s trailer telematics system to help increase trailer uptime and traceability.
The latest arrivals incorporate TrailerConnect, which provides real-time location and component condition monitoring via an online portal or mobile app.
The system proactively alerts operators when maintenance may be required, and helps protect the payload by sending security warnings to the driver and fleet manager by SMS or email when unauthorised activity is detected.
Martin Kelly, Managing Director at Kelly International, says: “TrailerConnect will help us make informed fleet maintenance decisions and maximise our uptime. And by tracking our trailers in real-time, we’re also able to keep our customers updated on delivery progress and security which gives them complete peace of mind.”
The units replace older Schmitz Cargobull trailers and will deliver paper rolls and packaging to customers across Europe. They join a 25-strong fleet, of which nearly all are built by the German manufacturer.
In addition to the telematics system, the new trailers are equipped with a Joloda walking floor, and a sliding roof which can be raised on one or both sides, simplifying the handling of bulky payloads.
The trailers are supplied on Schmitz Cargobull’s EXECUTIVE PLUS package which includes a five-year full-service maintenance contract supported by Schmitz Cargobull’s 1,700-strong pan-European Service Partner network.
Regular maintenance will be carried out by Kelly International’s local Service Partner, LTH, based in Sittingbourne, Kent.
