Proving that DAF trucks are chosen for a diverse range of industries and uses, one of the latest orders for its new Euro 6 range will be helping keep us all on the road working for the UK’s largest specialist road marking contractor, WJ Roadmarkings.
As part of a total order of 10 DAF trucks for its specialist fleet used to apply or remove permanent and temporary road markings, surfaces and road studs across the country, four bright yellow new DAF LF220 Euro 6 12 tonne vehicles with bespoke bodies have been delivered and are working in London on various local authority contracts.
The other trucks ordered are larger 16 and 18 tonne models which will carry heavier equipment for longer distance line markings and fitting cats eyes, but with the same engineering and quality as the bigger CF and XF ranges, the low weight and smaller dimensions of the new DAF LF make it the most economical and efficient choice for the general purpose duties of hand painting road markings these are used for. The LF’s light weight means more payload to carry everything required, including specialist equipment to keep road marking materials warm at 190 degrees.
As the new vehicles are based in London, the Euro 6 compliant emissions of the new DAF LF means it meets all current legislation to operate in the city. In addition, to meet Transport for London standards and achieve its FORS (Fleet Operator Recognition Scheme) accreditation, all new WJ Roadmarkings vehicles are now fitted with side view cameras, nearside scanners, rear warning signs and an audible (spoken) warning system that’s activated when the driver indicates left to warn cyclists and other vulnerable road users. In addition, WJ Roadmarkings is ensuring that all its drivers undertake the Approved Driver Training for Safe Urban Driving.
Mark Fawcett, General Manager, WJ Roadmarkings said: “We chose the new DAF LF Euro 6 because it is light and the right size, which makes it more suitable for its role in and around London.”
The new trucks were supplied by the DAF dealer F&G Commercials in Huddersfield and will be serviced at the closest DAF dealer to the WJ Roadmarkings base in Croydon, HTC Croydon in Surrey.
Commenting on this new order, Ray Ashworth, Managing Director, DAF Trucks Limited said: “The new LF Euro 6 is proving more popular than ever across a huge range of customers as it can be tailored to anyone’s needs. It is agile for using in urban environments, yet happy to take on long distances, and is now more efficient and economical to run, with a completely new interior to keep every driver comfortable.”
