Methods of securing loads, improving compliance and load securing standards will be in focus at the forthcoming FTA Fleet Engineer conference.
Assisted by the Freight Transport Association (FTA), the Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA) has recently published new guidance to help vehicle operators transport loads securely. Highlights from the document will be included within the presentation by Mark Horton from the DVSA, who will be speaking at the FTA conference, which is scheduled to take place on Wednesday 10 June at the National Motorcycle Museum, Birmingham.
Andy Mair, FTA’s Head of Engineering, who is due to chair the Fleet Engineer conference said: “FTA welcomed the opportunity to assist the DVSA in the development of its load securing guidance, which will help operators in the transport and supply chain industry to understand some of the methods of securing loads, and to improve compliance with load securing standards. FTA’s Fleet Engineer is an event aimed at anyone who has responsibility for specifying for commercial vehicles and ensuring compliance, and load securing is a vital part of that.”
The FTA Fleet Engineer conference, sponsored by Brigade Electronics, Goodyear and Isuzu, takes place on 10 June, when delegates will also have the opportunity to hear from Traffic Commissioner for the north-east of England, Kevin Rooney, who will be discussing commercial vehicle maintenance, the triennial review, how the revised guide to maintaining roadworthiness is being considered by the TCs, and experiences at public inquiries relating to maintenance issues.
Other sessions scheduled at the conference include a wide variety of topical engineering issues:
Department for Transport update
Vehicle safety aspects and development
Urban commercial vehicle operation
EC Whole Vehicle Type Approval post implementation
Commercial vehicle repair workshops, standards, competence and professionalism
