Castleblayney-based haulier Carna Transport has taken completed delivery of a 20-strong consignment of Mercedes-Benz Actros 2545LS Giga Space units purchased to service their expanding domestic, UK and European networks services.

Pictured leaving Mercedes-Benz headquarters on Dublin’s Naas Road, the units were supplied and delivered via A&M Commercials of Castleshane, Monaghan – a company with over 30 years’ experience in the truck business.

The new 6X2 tractor units are factory painted in Carna Transport’s distinctive white livery and fitted with Predictive Powertrain Control (PPC) option, twin bunks, fridge and 2.5m flat floor.

The decision to purchase Actros is said by Carna to have been largely influenced by their ‘positive experience’ with Mercedes-Benz and Actros.

‘Of importance to us is the trans-continental, on-the-road support that Mercedes-Benz provides for hauliers, coupled with the effectiveness of the Actros in delivering real fuel savings,’ a company spokesman said.

Founded by Barry Hughes in 1973, Carna Transport has experienced significant growth over the intervening decades and today operates a fleet of 130 trucks on both National & Continental European routes.
