A new freight and transport exchange is offering its services free for six months. The west Wales-based Vehotrans freight and transport exchange has already gained nearly 500 members and is growing every day.
The European-wide exchange is being offered free for the first six months to new customers, and has already gained more than 1,400 followers on social media website Twitter, with loads posted automatically on site.
Marketing Manager Carl Davies stressed that, while other established exchanges already exist in the UK, Vehotrans offered a competitive one-stop shop for couriers, hauliers, and freight forwarders alike.
He said: “There are other exchanges but they all offer different things. We wanted to build a site that offered everything under one roof at a very competitive price; why spend on different sites when you can just spend on one?
“We wanted to build a flexible exchange where our members can tell us what the industry needs; we will adapt to what is needed to make it work.”
One of Vehotrans’ strengths is it is built around easy to use smart phone technology applications, which can be used with Apple, Android and Blackberry phones, complete with live mapping for loads and driver availability.
“There was a gap in the market for a competitive exchange site that benefits both our customers and the industry. We identified that having an exchange with no hidden extras, free set-up, and free unlimited apps would benefit the industry,” said Carl.
“Vehotrans has been built so that it works properly on small devices such as smart phones and tablets, as well as PCs. The drivers on the move can upload and post statuses, which cuts down on traffic management time; the benefit is it gives them more time to do other things. Gone are the days of having to phone your drivers for ETAs, collection times or updates on delays. The app can post live availability at a touch of a button.”
He added: “We also offer multiple vehicle and load uploads – you can load up to 15 loads or vehicles in just five minutes, which saves valuable time. All loads and vehicle offers are also tweeted to over 1,400 Twitter followers, giving your work even more coverage; plus we offer a full UK and European coverage, all for one price.”
Customer confidence and safety are an important part of the Vehotrans approach.
“Once you take out a subscription we’ll be using a reputable credit checking agency to check all our customers at no extra cost,” explained Carl, adding: “We also have a feedback system for our customers’ piece of mind.”
He admitted the business would take time to become established.
“It’s going to take time, what we’re offering is nothing new; but you’re getting six months to bed yourself in to the site and then it’s only £199 for the full package for 12 months; you would be spending three or four times that on other sites. It makes economical sense in these hard days of the transport industry to cut costs; and for our customers to make more money.
“We hope that everyone that joins has the option to really market themselves to their full potential as hauliers, couriers or freight forwarders. Our aim, 12 months down the line, is to have the biggest courier, haulage and freight forwarding database in the UK.”
