The new Mercedes-Benz all-electric eVito Tourer crewbus van has arrived on the market in Ireland.
A unit which Mercedes-Benz says ‘combines a powerful electric drive train with high functionality’ – the mid-sized Tourer comes with nine seats and is set to appeal to those seeking a vehicle to provide local emission-free commercial passenger transport, such as a hotel shuttling or high-capacity taxi use.
Compact on the outside, roomy on the inside, the Tourer follows the all-electric eVito panel van, launched here two years ago, and comes in a long-wheelbase version with a total length of 5,140 mm. Gross vehicle weight is 3.5 tonnes and maximum payload is 677kg. With the battery located beneath the vehicle, operators have the unrestricted usability of the entire load space.
With an installed battery capacity of 90 kWh and range of up to 350km, its electric power unit delivers a peak output of 150 kW and up to 300 Nm torque. It can be charged from 20% – 100% in just 60 minutes or from 0-100% over a more extended 5 hours using an 11kW charge point.
Along with its panel van sibling, the eVito Tourer is the product of a €500m investment programme undertaken by Mercedes-Benz to create vehicles to counteract the problems of increasing urbanisation, growing traffic levels, stricter air purity requirements and demands for sustainable mobility.
With launch prices soon to be announced, the new eVito Tourer is a unit which Fergus Conheady, Mercedes-Benz commercial vehicles sales manager says is: “a low-emissions, reliable and flexible carrier, that gives customers a platform on which to demonstrate their eco-friendly credentials.”
