Renault Trucks UK has announced the appointment of Gino Costa as its new Vice President. Starting on the 1st January 2013, Gino succeeds Marc Martinez, who will be returning to Renault Trucks France as Vice President of the French market company.
In his new role, Gino will take responsibility for all three of the organisations under Renault Trucks’ control in the UK and Irish markets; Renault Trucks UK Ltd – the manufacturer market company, BRS Ltd – the group’s UK contract hire and truck rental operation and Renault Truck Commercials Ltd – the UK wholly owned dealer group with 13 sites.
Gino Costa, 55, has worked within the commercial vehicle industry for 33 years, beginning his career with Iveco. During this time he held a number of international management positions, which have seen him located in China, Turkey, the Middle East and Eastern Europe.
After 25 years’ service he joined Renault Trucks in October 2004, as Managing Director of Renault Trucks Turkey.
In September 2009, Gino moved to head up Renault Trucks Italy, as Managing Director. During this period he has also served as President of the truck division of UNRAE (Unione Nazionale Rappresentanti Autoveicoli Esteri), the Italian Importers Association.
On his appointment, Gino says: “I am delighted to be joining Renault Trucks UK. I am inheriting a strong team from Marc Martinez and we will work closely together to drive Renault Trucks’ profile in the UK and Irish markets forward. My key areas of focus will be on developing our brand image, continuing to grow our market share and to drive customer service excellence throughout our network. We will continue on the path paved in recent years, as I strongly believe that consistency and reliability are the main pillars for a successful customer relationship.
It is an exciting time to be joining the UK organisation. I believe there are some strong opportunities for Renault Trucks to develop in a market, which unlike many of the other European countries is still seeing some growth. In particular, with the launch of our new range in June 2013, we will have the opportunity to really make our mark!”
Gino continued: “On a personal note this is a great opportunity for me to continue to develop my international career. The UK and Ireland sales areas have a significant role to play in the future success of Renault Trucks in the Volvo Group and I relish the challenge of leading this activity over the coming years. Additionally, I have a daughter, son-in-law and two grandchildren resident in the UK and am really looking forward to be being able to spend more time with them.”
Marc Martinez leaves the UK after joining in July 2010, and continues his 25 year service with the company leading Renault Trucks France and Renault Trucks Commercials France, the company’s wholly owned dealer network, with 24 workshops and 1,000 employees. “I’ve thoroughly enjoyed my time here and am very proud to have led Renault Trucks UK during the period in which it achieved its record market share in 2011. I wish Gino every success and I am confident he will get the support he requires to succeed from the Renault Trucks, BRS and network teams.”
