The Road Haulage Association is deeply sympathetic for the people of Berlin who were victim of yet another terrorist attack that once again saw a truck being used as a murder weapon.
Since the similar incident in Nice in June, there has been speculation that the regulations governing the sale of used trucks should be tightened. Commenting, RHA chief executive Richard Burnett said: “No amount of additional regulations can prevent, for example, the hi-jack of a truck that will be used in another such attack.
“We all have a duty to be vigilant and drivers should take extra security measures wherever possible especially when lorries are parked up.”
