The major order indicates positive growth in the UK’s transport and logistics markets with six hundred new trailers being added to the Hireco fleet. In the last 12 months, SDC Trailers has created a total of 170 jobs, with hopes of more to follow before the end of the year. The group turnover to 31/3/2014 was £130m, projected to rise to £150 by 31/3/15, a rise of £20 million.

The £10million order is the result of a long standing relationship between Hireco and SDC. Managing Director at SDC Trailers, Mark Cuskeran, commented: “Hireco have been a great customer of ours through the years and I would like to thank them for choosing SDC once again. We have been working closely with Hireco to ensure their specific requirements are always met and this has allowed us to form a great and sustainable partnership. We operate in a very competitive market where quality and customer service, as well as our ongoing drive to keep our production costs low have ensured continued success. Our reputation is built on over thirty five years of design expertise, and quality accredited manufacturing standards.”

Mark Cuskeran said this order comes at an exceptionally successful time for the company which has invested in its staff, training and boosting employment. In February, the company also announced a £1.25 Million order from Saudi company, the Rezayat Group.

Established in Dublin, Hireco now has seven outlets throughout the UK and Ireland supplying premium equipment for contract hire and rental. They have purchased over 5,000 SDC trailers prior to this order and have been very satisfied with their performance. Tony Wan, a director at Hireco commented;

“I am delighted to announce this order with SDC, we are seeing an upturn in the UK and Irish markets with a high demand for trailer rentals. Investing in the best allows us to offer a high standard of service to our customers and remain competitive in the equipment rental industry. We have chosen SDC over the years because the quality of their products and customer service is second to none. I am looking forward to working more with them in the coming months.”

Cuskeran added, “By continuously re-investing and updating our engineering facilities we have been able to adapt to changes in the industry and provide customer led transport solutions. SDC have set the benchmark for innovation and quality in the trailer manufacturing industry and we will continue to do so were we see improvements can be made.”

SDC Trailers have been serving the road transport and logistics industry since 1978. Having pioneered a number of innovative design features and operational advancements, they are now widely recognised as the industry leader. Their unique bolt on body concept offers practical repairs and minimal downtime. SDC were the first manufacturer to build the longer length semi-trailer which currently being trailed by the UK, offering a reduction in carbon emissions, congestion, fuel consumption and operational costs.

In 2010 the innovative manufacturer launched the “autoliner” trailer in response to a demand from vehicle transport operators. The semi-trailer offers increased flexibility over the standard car transporter, with additional operational and fuel saving benefits. The company’s latest innovation; an extended length skeletal trailer was unveiled by HRH Princess Anne at last month’s commercial vehicle show in Birmingham. The new 15.6m skeletal and 50ft container which can transport up to eight additional pallets on one lorry is being trialed by UK operator Malcolm Logistics.

In addition to high quality trailers, SDC provide a truck and trailer parts service throughout Ireland, which aims to minimise customer downtime. With over five thousand original equipment parts in stock, SDC Parts offer same day or next day courier service for customer convenience.
