SmartWitness is celebrating one of its most successful exhibitions after picking up new orders worth over £500,000 at the Commercial Vehicle show.
The vehicle CCTV specialist also signed two new international telematics partnerships at the event in NEC Birmingham.
A key driver in the sales boom was the recognition from fleet managers that they needed in-cab cameras to protect their drivers from crash-for-cash fraudsters – a £1 billion-a-year fraud in the UK
A recent Road Haulage Association survey found that 54% of its members have now fitted f in-cab cameras.
SmartWitness is the only RHA GOLD vehicle CCTV supplier. Simon Marsh, SmartWitness managing director, said: “We have a phenomenal response since the CV show and have noticed a sea-change in attitudes towards journey recorders from fleet managers.
“It is no longer a case of, ‘Can we afford to fit our fleet with the cameras?’ but more like, ‘How can we NOT afford to do without them?
“They were telling us that the cameras improve their drivers’ behaviour and reduce the number of incidents on the roads.
“Our clients are finding their insurance premiums are being reduced by 20% and their incident rates by half.
Around 40% of all motor insurance are disputed, compared to just 2% of incidents captured on SmartWitness cameras.”
SmartWitness has now launched the KP1, hailed as the most advanced vehicle record in the world. It can instantly transmit footage to insurers within 60 seconds of an incident occurring and also warns fleet managers of poor driving.
Marsh added: “We are at the forefront of this kind of technology, which makes SmartWitness an increasingly attractive option for our partners.
“The CV show was great showcase for our products and we are able to agree two new international telematics partnerships.”
