SmartWitness Vehicle CCTV and safety systems took enquiries from haulage firms for 30,000 vehicle CCTV cameras at last week’s Commercial Vehicle Show.
The Croydon-based firm took a large space at the CV show and saw an 80 per cent increase on sales at the NEC in Birmingham compared with the previous year.
International Sales Director Mark Berry said: “This year the number of enquiries has been unprecedented and we took orders for 30,000 in-vehicle cameras in just three days, this is up 80 perf cent on the previous year. The stand was busy across the entire show and we were writing out order forms all day.
“A key factor for the sales spike is that many operators in the market now know about the benefits of having vehicle CCTV and safety systems installed. It’s seen as a necessary part of their business now and so many more haulage and courier companies are aware of how SmartWitness technology can protect them on the roads.“
Several major logistics companies made orders of over 1,000 units at the CV show, and over 300 organisationsa approached SmartWitness for CCTV vehicle systems.
The biggest selling camera at the show was the SmartWitness KP1. The award-winning camera has 3G/4G instant video transmission vehicle camera with in-built tracking and telematics data.
It features two cameras – a built-in forward facing camera and an optional second camera for interior, side or rear views.
It also offers super fast notification – as soon as KP1 detects an incident, it sends a 10-second video clip from its primary camera via email instantly to any authorised recipient.
The KP1 also provides daily driver reports, either by email or SMS, giving companies constant, accurate updates of driver competence and safety. It incorporates the very latest technology, allowing the 10-second video clip to be compressed to just 150KB of data, making it more cost effective than any other units currently on the market;
It has an advanced third generation, high sensitivity Bosch G Sensor which is Thatcham tested and easily upgradeable comms interface that is 3G, 4G, Wifi, WiMax and Bluetooth ready.
One of the big selling points for SmartWitness’ new customers was the reduction in insurance premiums. Several haulage firms have seen a 20 per cent reduction in premiums the year after installation, and with instant video notification insurance claims can be dealt with quickly which significantly reduces costs.
Just 2 per cent of incidents recorded on SmartWitness cameras result in disputed claims – against an industry norm of 40 per cent for all motor claims.
