Competent and trustworthy sales staff that immediately inspired confidence, coupled with the promise of overnight servicing, were factors which encouraged Edge Transport Ltd. to acquire three new Volvo rigid trucks recently.

Edge_Transport_pic1“Sometimes the financial side of acquisition needs to be enhanced by well-presented sales arguments and the offer of overnight servicing alongside a highly competitive quotation were certainly some of the ‘main gains’ for us,” confirms Operations Director Richard Pridding.

Based at the company’s Wrexham depot, the new Volvos are the first of the marque to join the Edge Transport fleet and comprise one FL 15-tonne rigid, one FL 18-tonner and one FE three-axle 26-tonner. All are equipped with CBS curtain-side bodies and feature Cantilever-type tail-lifts.

Supplied by Volvo dealer Thomas Hardie Commercials Ltd, the new Volvos are the first to be acquired by Edge Transport on a Contract Hire basis. They will be serviced and maintained at the Volvo dealer’s Deeside facility.

Edge Transport operates about 30 vehicles providing nationwide coverage and the company is also a member of Palletline and The Hazchem Network. In addition the company offers extensive warehousing and operates a specialist division for handling hazardous materials.

Established more than 75-years ago Edge Transport is proud of its safety record and stipulated that a wide range of safety features were incorporated into the new Volvo trucks. These include blind spot cameras at the front and rear, on-board telematics and tail-lifts featuring a large 1.8-metre floor with folding safety rails.

“Naturally we will be watching these vehicles very closely and monitoring their performance on a regular basis in the early stages,” explained Richard Pridding.“But so far the feed-back from drivers and the traffic office has been positive,” he added.
