Following an extensive training programme, five TIP Trailer Services branches have become fully approved WABCO Service Partners in the UK and, later this year, this agreement between the two companies is potentially to be extended across other TIP regional operations within Europe.
TIP’s branches in Manchester, Newcastle, Nuneaton, Felixstowe and Grays are now part of the extensive WABCO Service Partner network of over 2000 approved Service Partners worldwide that supports WABCO’s long-standing involvement in the commercial vehicle industry.
According to Karl Davies, Services and Marketing Director, TIP Trailer Services, “This development is part of an emerging relationship with WABCO that goes back five years and marks a long term partnership between the two companies that upskills the technical services available from TIP to its customers and forms part of our planned ongoing staff training programme. Trailer braking systems have developed substantially in recent years and the need to keep up to speed on new technology is essential, especially in relation to the current changes and effects of whole vehicle type approval.”
As part of this Service Partner agreement with WABCO, all technicians at the five TIP branches have been through formal training programs undertaken by WABCO and coordinated through TIP’s UK Maintenance Leader Dave Parr. This partnership arrangement will automatically be assessed and audited by WABCO on an annual basis, in terms of staffing performance and diagnostic equipment levels at each TIP branch.
As Simon Cage, UK Aftermarket and Trailer Manager at WABCO Automotive UK Ltd says, “We welcome the inclusion of five professional TIP workshops to our network of high-class WABCO Service Partners. We are constantly seeking to improve the service standard of our network and this tie-up with TIP’s efforts to establish a professional trailer service on complex braking technology to UK fleets is a large step forward.”
As TIP Trailer Services has long standing maintenance agreements with many large fleets with pan-European operations, the planned rollout of the WABCO Service Partner agreement across TIP’s European operations will be an important project for both organisations.
“In recent years, TIP has developed into a fully integrated maintenance services company and, to maintain our market leading position, we need to widen the range of skills available to customers. By working closely with companies such as WABCO, this differentiates TIP from all other trailer service companies. It enables us to enhance our customer service proposition by offering the most comprehensive range of maintenance support programmes currently available from any provider,” he concluded
