Leading London integration construction services provider, S. Walsh and Sons Ltd, has diversified its fleet to include 25 Renault Range Cs, the first to join its 40-strong DAF-dominated line-up. Supplied by Renault Trucks Essex, the Range Cs were chosen following a review of 5 major manufacturers, with Renault Trucks offering the best deal overall, including impressive vehicle features and performance as well as a comprehensive repair and maintenance contract. The 32 tonne range C430 8x4s are fitted with Fruehauf light weight steel tipper bodies and started hitting the roads from January onwards.
The new Range Cs will be put through their paces delivering to rugged and challenging construction sites in London and Essex, including Rainham, Pitsea and East Tilbury. Commenting on his decision to swap to Renault Trucks, Senior Transport Manager, Nathan Hopgood, said: “Our business is growing at a rapid pace, and we needed some seriously robust construction vehicles that are up to the job. To keep up with the increasing demand we decided to try a different make of truck. Following a review of some of the major manufacturers, we chose the new Renault Trucks Range C, based on the overall deal, including the R&M contract offered which was for 5 years with 4 weekly inspections. I also really liked the look of the lorry, it just looks more robust than the others which is exactly what we need for the work that we do.”
Nathan continued: “We will be running the new Renault Range Cs alongside the DAFs so we will be able to measure which one is the most effective for our business in terms of fuel economy, downtime and servicing. We’ve had a Range C demonstrator and the driver is really impressed so far; he particularly likes the seat position as well as the cab space and interior. He also thinks it’s more robust and has a high ground clearance which is essential for tipper work.”
